Role Purpose:
To ensure the optimal performance, availability, and reliability of Vodacom’s mobile network infrastructure by monitoring, analyzing, and controlling network elements in real-time. The Mobile Network Controller plays a critical role in maintaining service quality, minimizing downtime, and supporting the rollout of new technologies such as 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G and VoLTE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Monitoring & Control
- Monitor 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G network elements using NOC tools and dashboards.
- Detect, diagnose, and escalate network faults and performance degradations.
- Coordinate with field teams and vendors for fault resolution and maintenance activities.
· Ensure timeous feedback on all queries / requests for info or action directed at the supervisors
· Interact with TowerCOs and partners operating in the network during his shift
· Ensure that all network elements (NEs) are continuously monitored, logged, handled, escalated and that 100% of faults are dispatched in line with the severity classifications.
· Following up and outstanding faults and customer complaints.
· Ensure routine test of each system and applications is accurately and timeously done.
· Ensure daily network reports are generated with respect to faults.
· Ensure all access to Vodacom sites are controlled and managed as per Site access policy and procedure.
· Work with Network Management Systems (NMS) and Work Force Management (WFM) tools
· Monitor and react to all mobile network faults (radio, transmissions, core networks, power, OSS, breakouts)
· Detect, localize, classify, resolve, or escalate with active follow-up of all faults until their resolution.
· Get the Root cause analysis (RCA) and action done to clear the fault (RFO)
· Network risks identification, correlation, correction, or mitigation with support teams
· Prevent major incidents by taking appropriate action with stakeholders.
· Interact with Managed Service Provider (MSP) and NOC Backoffice support team on faults localization to take appropriate actions for clearance or mitigation.
· Report incidents to relevant division/department on time
· Correctly log all network element faults in the FMS (Remedy)
· Ensure the compliance of Network Policies & Processes
· Investigate network service degration complaints.
· Network problems identification, classification and resolving
· Support LTPM (Long Preventative Measures)
· Escalate all service affecting: Critical / Emergency/major faults, telephonically, messages to Managed services provider (MSP), regional operations, NMC Lead and top operation Leaders.
· Interact with the necessary parties w.r.t. serious network or service delivery problems, i.e. radio Access, Transmission, IPRAN &IP Core, Core Network, Power & cooling systems, VAS services & IN
· Ensure notification, co-ordination, and execution of all approved job orders during his duty.
· Assist with investigation of poor performance of network elements in conjunction with network system specialist and experts.
· Positive Impact of Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) during his shift
· Mean Time To Log (MTTL), Mean Time to Dispatch (MTTD) and Mean Time To Close (MTTC) all tickets issued.
· Must know the network Architectures (GULN)
· Collaborate and perform delegated tasks
- Performance Optimization
- Analyze KPIs and alarms to ensure optimal network performance.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions to improve coverage, capacity, and quality.
- Support network optimization initiatives including spectrum re-farming and dynamic spectrum sharing.
- Incident & Problem Management
- Log and manage incidents in accordance with SLA timelines.
- Participate in root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
- Maintain accurate records of network events and interventions.
- Technology Integration
- Support integration and testing of new network elements and software upgrades.
- Collaborate with planning and engineering teams during network expansions and rollouts.
- Ensure seamless handover and configuration of new sites and technologies.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly performance and incident reports of the shifts
- Close timely all Tickets
- Maintain updated documentation of network configurations and operational procedures.
Profil recherché
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- DATA Analyst, Network Intelligence (NI) and reporting
- 3+ years of experience in mobile network operations or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G technologies.
- Familiarity with IP networking, VoLTE, and RAN
- NetEco, NCE, UME, MAE, Netnum
- NetCool, WFM, BMC Remedy, FETCH, ServiceNow
- Huawei, ZTE, CERAGON products and Systems
