Role purpose:

 

·       Ensure Maintenance activities for the datacenter Preventive and Corrective.

·       Coordinate all installation in the datacenter (Electrical, Mechanical, Cooling, Automatism, data PCM, fiber, new racks).

·       Ensure all HSE (health, safety and environment) requirements are met in all operational Datacenter.

·       Ensure that all new network equipment installed in data center (MSC & BSC sites) are accompanied by an approved Facilities Utilisation Request (FUR) form and installed accordingly.

·       Systems Quality check and acceptance.

·       Reporting and DATA management (Critical report, drawing…).

·       Report all activities, active and passive in the Datacenter.

·       Facility maintenance reports are captured and published on SharePoint.

·       Site security and H&S implementation.

·       MS administration and audit.

·       Batteries autonomy test on MTX.

·       ATS test on MTX.

·       ATS test on Platinum and Gold sites.

·       Project implementation passive on MTX.

·       Project implementation active on MTX.

·       Coordinate Capex passive.

·       Coordinate Capex new project.

·       Coordinate Opex passive.

·       Coordinate Opex Ops including travel.

·       Implementation of MTX passive preventive maintenance schedule.

·       Implementation of MTX active preventive maintenance schedule.

·       Passive equipment End of live and end of support updated file.

·       Audit findings closed by due date.

·       Monthly Status report of Power (AC/DC/GENRATOR/UPS/RECTIFIER/Batteries)

sent to Facilities and Ops Support Managers (MSC- SS, BSC-Specialist).

·       Energy requirement forecast for all plants in the region.

·       Ensure diesel bulk tanks to remain all times at least 80%.

·       Support Maintenance passive team on gold, silver and big nodes sites.

·       Support Facility regional team for Offices and Vodashops power maintenance.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

·     Coordinate Preventive and Curative Maintenance activities for operational data center plant technical facilities; AC Mains power systems, DC power systems, all security systems electronic devices and suppression fire systems Aircon system ...

·     Support teams; Vodacom staff, and of externally appointed engineers, electrical contractors,

·     Support Contractor and SLA management

·     Conduct Health check for operational datacenters and reports; D/W/M/Q/A.

·     Ensure all HSE (health, safety, and environment) requirements are met.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

·       Data centre operation management / design

·       Technical Project Management

·       Electrical or mechanical systems

·       GSM/telecommunication network topology

·       Basic building construction

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

·       Relevant 3-year engineering or technical degree or diploma

·       Minimum of 3 years’ project management experience

·       Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical or mechanical systems/elements related to data centre management /design, build /Alarm reporting systems or…

Budget owned:

·       Executive Head of Technology Operations

Key performance indicators [max 4]:

 

·     Perform the required maintenance as contained in the MSC Facility Maintenance Policy (VOD-IMP-PPR-0094).

·     Perform the required maintenance as defined in the Fire Alarm & Gas Suppression System Standard (VOD-IMP-STD-0244 /VOD-MAN-PCR-0434).

·     Comply with zero-downtime tolerance of core facilities (Datacenter).

·     Successfully execute projects within budget, schedule, and technical quality.

·     Full adherence to Vodacom’s

ü  HSE requirements – electrical works construction, etc.

ü  Vodacom Managerial Executive instruction 02.

ü  All related OHS policies.

ü  Vodacom Absolute Rules.

Profil recherché

 

·       The following is required for the Operations Craft:
1. [Autonomously] implements the changes of loading of Main systems as required from the DCS (Distributed Control System) console or through other electronic control systems.
2. Reads meters and records data at specified intervals in appropriate logs and computers [and interprets results from the readings].

·       The following is required for the MECHANICAL craft:
1. Work with precision tools and instruments within close tolerances to maintain precision alignment and balance which is critical for maximum life and performance of machinery and equipment.  [Evaluate the measurements to ensure they meet designed tolerances.]

·       The following is required for the ELECTRICAL craft:
1. [Troubleshoot,] maintain, repair, program, and replace complex electrical equipment, A/C and D/C control circuits, magnetic starters, interlock systems, and alarms, to ensure reliable and safe electric generation.
2. Maintain and calibrate electrical equipment such as circuit breakers, [main generator, voltage regulator, exciter, protection circuits and relays,] in plant transformers, bushings, transfer switches, and other electrical devices.
3. [Set up and test various electrical equipment with the use of special testing devices to measure voltage, current, and resistance or locate faults, malfunctions, or device failures.]

·       The following is required for the INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL craft:
1. [Responsible for] installations, calibrating, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining protective circuits, computers, metering, monitoring, and control systems on generators Tanks, and plant auxiliary equipment.
2. Remove, dismantle; clean; maintain; and assemble instruments and replace defective components.  [Perform in shop bench work and component troubleshooting on instrumentation.]
3. [Reads, and interprets electric generating plants piping & instrument diagrams, wiring and logic diagrams to locate, identify, troubleshoot, and repair plant systems, instrumentation interlocks, etc.]

·       Knowledge of proper methods and procedures used in cleaning work area and equipment.

·       Knowledge of safety rules, codes and regulations applicable when working on or near energized electrical systems, steam systems, and high-pressure water systems.

·       Ability to make accurate gauge readings.

·       Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other City employees and the public.

·       Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.

·       Skills for mastery in one maintenance craft or in the operations craft AND competency in a different maintenance craft or operations craft.

·       Ability to reference/interpret technical manuals sufficient to perform job tasks.

·       Ability to work in extreme environments. (Hot or Cold)

·       Ability to climb ladders and work in a noisy environment.

·       Ability to lift 50 pounds weight.

·       Ability to wear a respirator where work environment requires.

·       Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts if work assignment requires.
